Illustration and Visual Narrative
The Postgraduate Programme in Illustration and Visual Narrative hopes to generate a dynamic with opportunities for publication, exhibition and articulation with the community and professionalization in this area and related subjects, in order to further contribute to strengthening the pole of cultural and artistic creation, in particular in the Drawing area already existent at FBAUL.
The relatively recent integration of the arts at the University requires a hybrid discourse, which must be distinguished both from that produced by artistic discourse and from that of more conventional and academic modes. Hybrid discourse explores the entire continuum of possible ways of approaching the existential relationship with the environment: from aesthetic, multi-sensory, associative, affective, spatial and visual modes of 'knowledge' to more discursive, analytical and contextualized ways. In this sense, it is intended to approach Illustration and Visual Narrative to explore the significant non-conceptual aspects of human culture, both in the field of artistic research and in more established fields of research, understanding them as qualitative tools in the field of creative arts, making use of multidisciplinary collaboration and socially involved participation, hence the need of connecting with different organizations and institutions, outside of the academia.
The course seeks to develop professionalism in this area of FBA, with opportunities for publication, exhibition and articulation with the community
Applying for Illustration and Visual Narrative it is also necessary to present a portfolio. In the case of audiovisual records, the candidate may indicate in a specific area of the portfolio a link to a digital repository.
