Ecological modelling and data analysis
OBJECTIVES:
Use GIS, ecological modelling and Data Analysis tools with a high level of productivity. Equip trainees with the necessary skills to develop work in GIS software (e.g. ArcGIS, SAGAGIS and QGIS), calculation (Excel) and subsequent interconnection with Modelling and Artificial Intelligence software (e.g. Open Modeller, R and Maxent).
PROGRAMMATIC TOPICS:
I. Ecological Modelling and Data Analysis: concepts and reviews.
II. Data structure, preparation and manipulation.
III. Descriptive statistics, data visualization and correlation analysis applied to geographic information.
IV. Introduction to different methods (parametric and non-parametric) of Species Distribution Modelling (SDM): generalized linear models (GLM), Logistic Regression (RL), Artificial Neural Networks (ANN), Maximum entropy, GARP, Support Vector Machines (SVM), BIOCLIM, among others.
V. Production of SDM Workflows for creating predictive maps of occurrence and abundance.
VI. SDM Workflows for future climate change scenarios using the Bioclimatic Envelopes method (BIOCLIM and DOMAIN).
VII. Introduction to automation of operations and creation of simple functions applied to Ecology.
Use with high level of productivity of GIS tools, ecological modelling and Data Analysis; interconnection with Modelling and Artificial Intelligence software
