ULisboa School Shanghai

The agreement between the University of Lisbon (ULisboa) and Shanghai University (SHU), China, for the creation of the ULisboa School, Shanghai University, was signed by the top representatives of the two institutions in September 2021.

After the signature, the authorities of the two countries recognised and validated the agreement. In Portugal, the Agency for Assessment and Accreditation of Higher Education (A3ES) accredited the study cycles in early 2022. Subsequently, the Chinese Ministry of Education validated the partnership.

In its initial phase, the School offers bachelor's and master's degree programmes in the field of engineering. The bachelor's degrees are in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering. Master's degrees are in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering.

The bachelor’s and master's degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering and Civil Engineering are offered, on the ULisboa side, by IST Técnico Lisboa. The bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Environmental Engineering are offered jointly by the IST Técnico Lisboa, the School of Agriculture (ISA) and the Faculty of Sciences (FC). There is also collaboration with the ISEG - Lisbon School of Economics & Management and the School of Arts and Humanities (FL).

In addition to the bachelor’s and master’s degrees, the partnership provides for collaboration at the doctoral level, through the linking of existing doctoral programmes at both institutions, and in the area of research.

The ULisboa School of Shanghai University is located on the SHU Baoshan campus. It is also at SHU that the students’ application and enrolment procedures take place.
